Most of the time I’m pipetting and running experiments. Once I obtain data, I create graphics to communicate my findings with others. Check out my eLife paper about Myo10.
This illustration was created for a presentation about pathogen and mucin interactions during gut infections. The human gut microbiota consists of a complex community of over trillions of microbes.
Microbial populations are found on the outer mucus layer and filtered from the inner colon mucus layer. Mucins are proteins found in the gastrointestinal tract that participate in host defense. However, pathogenic bacteria can invade the colon and degrade mucins during infection.
I made this figure for my colleague’s paper.
